Immerse yourself in the world of tapestry weaving in this new two-day workshop with Bridget Lane.
This class is for beginners and improvers, as well as tapestry weavers wanting to take their weaving to the next level. You’ll learn how to prepare a tapestry frame and get to grips with plain weave, then start introducing multiple weft threads and weaving various shapes. You’ll explore the use of colour and tones by experimenting with blending, along with other fundamentals such as hatching and dovetailing.
There will be information on weaving design and settings, as well as how best to finish off your work. For those with some experience, there’ll be the opportunity to try adding texture, and Bridget will happily share various tips and tricks to help you improve your weaving.
Tapestry weaving allows you to slow-down a little and be creative with an art form that plays with colour and design, and is easy to continue at home once you have the fundamental skills.
Bridget will provide all equipment and materials needed for this weekend, but if you have a tapestry frame or bobbin of your own that you’d prefer to use, please bring them with you. This workshop will include lunch, refreshments and a sweet treat on both days. If you’d like to escape to mid Devon for the weekend, ask us for our accommodation list.
