We are delighted that textile artist, tutor and author, Sharon Kearley, will be running this inspiring course again, designing for all areas of constructed textiles.  She will provide you with the confidence to take your design skills to the next level. She will share with us her own design tips from her book “Woven Textiles – A Designer’s Guide”.

“Concept to Cloth” breaks down the fear of the design process with a playful approach that harnesses your inner child and taps into your creative, inquisitive nature through no nonsense experimentation and exploration.  The emphasis is on fun, no rules, and a permission to push the boundaries and be rebellious for at least a day.  A mantra of “What happens if…?” Where you are actively told to make mistakes (most commonly known as design opportunities!)

No previous experience is necessary, although a basic knowledge of either weave, knit, stitch, felting, patchwork or crochet is helpful but not essential.  Finally, an open mind to the exciting and unexpected is desirable.  For those who are more established in their craft, it will continue to push your skills and understanding to create some wonderful design work.

As well as food for thought, you are also guaranteed food for the body, with a lovely Loom Shed lunch, plenty of tea, coffee and sweet treats.

This workshop also includes a follow up online catch up on 25th January 2025 10am – 12 noon

*** You can pay for this workshop in 2 instalments – £100 now and the remaining £75 by 8th November.***
