Creating Green & Purple using Natural Dyes with Jane Deane
March 19 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm£89
Though green is the most abundant colour in nature it is almost impossible to achieve a good, fast green through the use of one dye. However, using a range of natural yellows and indigo we can produce a range of greens that will satisfy most needs. Purple, too, whilst more achievable from a single dye than green, is rarely fast. In order to create beautiful, fast purples we dye red and indigo.
This workshop will use a range of yellows and reds plus indigo to achieve greens and purples.
This workshop is perfect add-on to our dye days last year, but also suitable to those new to the natural dyeing process. All materials will be provided and fabric /yarn will be pre-mordanted for you or if you have the know-how, please bring a small amount of pre-mordanted material with you. Jane will show you how to make an indigo vat, which will look like pure alchemy! We will then spend many a happy hour over-dyeing with red and yellow to create a palette of greens and purples.
We are delighted to welcome Jane Deane back to The Loom Shed for another year – her workshops are always full of wisdom and revelation.
