Enjoy a weekend exploring the art and craft of ply-splitting as a way to make three dimensional vessels, dishes, mats or sculptural pieces.
We are so happy to welcome Julie Hedges to The Loom Shed to teach this workshop. She is a master in the field, having researched and published several books on the subject. She has also taught and exhibited her own work both throughout the UK and internationally. Places are limited so don’t miss this opportunity!
Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, learn the processes, design and history of this intriguing craft. This is an opportunity to design and create a small split ply vessel and learn the methods that you can take with you to be able continue weaving and exploring ply splitting.
During the weekend expect to learn the fundamentals of ply-split braiding and how to choose both the right yarn and colour for the right purpose. Julie will share her own samples and show you how to make your own cords to split as well as braiding with cords that she has made for you.
This workshop will include lunch, refreshments and a sweet treat on both days. If you’d like to escape to mid Devon for the weekend, ask us for our accommodation list.
*** You can pay for this workshop in 2 instalments – £130 now and £100 by 7th March. ***
