Immerse yourself in the world of tapestry weaving in this two-day workshop with Bridget Lane.
This class is for beginners and improvers, as well as tapestry weavers wanting to take their weaving to the next level.
You’ll learn how to prepare a tapestry frame and get to grips with plain weave, then start introducing multiple weft threads to create shapes and patterns within your weaving. You can explore colour and tones by introducing blending and there’ll be the opportunity to learn further techniques including hatching and dovetailing. For those with some experience, you can also experiment with shapes in design, overlaying or incorporating tufting.
There will be information on weaving design, cartoons and settings, as well as how best to finish off your work and Bridget will happily share various tips and tricks to help you improve your weaving.
“This course was inspirational. I was a complete novice to tapestry and over the course of a lovely relaxed weekend, Bridget took us through the basics. A very accomplished tapestry weaver herself, she had an easy manner that made us comfortable enough to ask questions and to learn from our mistakes.” Jenny
