We’re delighted to welcome back Skye from Slow Stitch Club for 2025, but this time online, so you can learn this gentle stitch technique in the comfort of your own home.
Mending is a hugely creative and intentionally slow and therapeutic skill, and the community surrounding it is super inspiring. I hope you’ll join us to learn a new skill and be a part of the change to fight against fast fashion whilst taking care of the clothes you love.
Slow Stitch Club teaches the art of visible mending using simple sewing techniques such as darning and Sashiko to repair clothing in a creative, visible and intentional way. These workshops are suitable for complete beginners. Skye will be sharing tips and tricks throughout the workshop and can answer any questions as you get mending. We can also discuss the best ways to go about darning particular clothes and areas of damage using different techniques.
The importance of caring for and extending the lives of the clothes that already exist in the world has become hugely important, and following graduation from her fashion degree Skye set out to help teach others about learning to fix their clothing through the practice of visible mending.
This 2 hour live workshop will show you how to get started with darning a standard woven patch – a great technique for visibly mending your clothes in a colourful and creative way.
There is a small list of easily sourced sewing equipment that you’ll need beside you for the workshop which will be sent on booking your place. In true Loom Shed style, we recommend a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits to hand too!
