Learn to Weave
During this 10 week course you will learn how to set up a 4 shaft handloom and weave a length of fabric woven with different structures. This will involve winding a warp and setting up the loom before learning how to throw a shuttle and weave well. During the term, Louise Cottey will take some time to discuss other weave structures, techniques, and the work of other cultures and designers over coffee.
If you are a more experienced weaver seeking a refresher or new challenge, Louise is more than happy to adapt the course to suit you.
The course fee includes full tuition, equipment, tea/coffee, and a full set of Learn to Weave notes to refer to. Yarn will be available at a small additional cost. There is usually a waiting list for this course, please contact Louise for more information or to add your name to the list.
Learn to Crochet
The aim of this five week course is to equip you with the skills and understanding to create a crochet granny square motif and washable reusable face pads. Liz will guide you through a series of exercises to develop your crochet skills that will allow you to crochet confidently independently
We will cover the following:
How to hold your crochet hook and yarn.
How to create a slip knot.
How to chain, double and treble stitch.
How to create a magic ring and slip stitches.
Liz will also share with you some colour theory and support you to explore the way we put colours together when creating textiles.

Learn to Knit
The five week course is designed to equip you with the skills and understanding to create a set of handknitted facecloths using various stitches and techniques.
We will cover the following:
How to hold your needles and yarn.
How to create a slip knot.
How to cast on.
How to create knit and purl stitches.
How to use knit and purl stitches to create different stitch patterns.
How to cast off.
Liz will also share with you some colour theory and support you to explore the way we put colours together when creating textiles.
