Brand, sparklingly new for 2025 is our online Weave Study Group. This a course that you can study at your own pace, in your own studio, supported by our expert weaver, author and tutor Stacey Harvey-Brown.

We’ll meet online 4 times throughout the year to discuss different aspects of honeycomb (also known as distorted or deflected weft) weaving:

  • Basics of honeycomb: threading, weaving modes, cell size variation, and wet finishing.
  • Creating honeycomb from overshot designs.
  • ‘Honeyhuck’ principle examination.
  • Using honeycomb to create weft-faced motifs.

The final workshop in 2026 will share experiences, highlights, and challenges of the course. We will also set up a social media group to support your progress. Each of the sessions will be recorded in case you can’t join us on the date.

Stacey explains more: “Honeycomb Hybrids evolved from weaving the wonderful effects I saw in eroding limestone and sandstone rocks as well as sea creatures such as anemones and jellyfish. It became a bit of an obsession to dive deeper into this seemingly innocuous and simple technique and to push it in ways that I hadn’t thought about before. These four sessions will give you different aspects to honeycomb and encourage you to explore these oblique approaches so that hopefully you will enjoy experimenting around honeycomb and other structures in the future.”
To join the study group you will need an 8 shaft loom (4 shaft is fine too), a good stash of yarn, plenty of squared paper, coloured pencils and an eraser.

We hope you can join us.
