Tempting Textures and Reversible Stitch Patterns

Join us for another fabulous Emma Vining knit-a-long-workshop to explore reversible textural knitting. We’ll knit a Rectangle of Squares Scarf or Cowl together over five one-hour online sessions, exploring multiple textures and building up a stitch library of reversible patterns. Push your knitting knowledge and design skills with Emma’s expert guidance and a group of like-minded enthusiastic knitters.

We look forward to this workshop every year, and it gets us through the long winter nights after Christmas, and when we finish, the daylight hours are longer. Emma’s patterns are always addictive and thoroughly enjoyable, and she gives us food for thought each week.

KAL: The Rectangle of Squares Scarf or Cowl.
The Rectangle of Squares Scarf and Cowl are inspired by Emma’s Rectangle of Squares Wrap, previously published in Knitting magazine Issue 257. You will receive the patterns for the wrap, scarf and cowl before the first session. We will be knitting the scarf or cowl for our KAL, but you are welcome to knit the larger wrap if you prefer.

The wrap, cowl and scarf can be knitted flat from end to end. However, you may wish to wait until after session 1 before casting on as you might like to try a provisional cast on to keep your options open! Optional new textural stitch patterns will be introduced during sessions 3 and 4 with charted and written instructions provided.

Yarn
Cowl requires approximately 191m / 210yd of Aran weight yarn
(e.g. 1 x 100g skein A Yarn Story Origin)
Scarf requires approximately 382m / 420yd of Aran weight yarn
(e.g. 2 x 100g skeins A Yarn Story Origin)
Wrap requires approximately 764m / 840yd of Aran weight yarn
(e.g. 4 x 100g skeins A yarn Story Origin)

Accessories
4.5mm (UK 7/US 7) knitting needles for the wrap and scarf
5mm (UK 6/US 8) knitting needles for the wrap, scarf and cowl
Crochet hook and scrap yarn for the provisional cast on
Darning needle to sew in ends and for grafting live stitches.
