An Introduction to Tablet Weaving with Sue Day

October 3 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm BST

£130

Braid weaving is a fascinating craft – such complex patterns can be made with a seemingly simple, portable loom. But perhaps that’s how our ancestors always wove? Connect with your inner Viking and enjoy this absorbing way of weaving for a day.

During this workshop, expert tutor and dyer, Sue Day will show you how to make a braid by turning the tablets in different directions to create the final design.

We will learn how to thread the tablets and weave a design with a triangle motif. We’ll explore the effect of colour on the pattern, how the threading affects the final outcome and what the possibilities are of using different shaped cards.

Sue will even guide us in the process of designing our own braiding patterns. This workshop will give you a good grounding in the tablet weaving with handouts to refer to in the future. You may find yourself addicted!

Sue Day will provide all equipment and materials, so you can just relax and enjoy the weaving.

As usual, The Loom Shed will provide you with a nourishing lunch, plenty of tea and coffee with a sweet treat or two!
