The Loom Shed Summer Weave Retreat

Join us for four days of just focussing on you and your weaving. Whatever your experience or if you have none at all, please join us in our loom-filled workshop for tuition, chats about colour and good company.

This year our theme is colour, so we’ll look at the colour wheel, tone and proportion of one colour to another and how we can best use colour in our weaving. There will be a pause in the weaving everyday to contemplate a new aspect of colour and how we use it in our weaving. Take this opportunity to try something new.

If you’ve never tried weaving before, we will take you through the step-by-step process of setting up a loom before guiding your through several different weave structures. Learn how to read them, but importantly to weave them well. Explore the colour interactions between warp and weft.

For more experienced weaver, why not use this time to try something new. Double weave, Crackle or Summer and Winter are all good weave structures to explore colour or perhaps you have something else you’ve always wanted to try, but never found the time or confidence?

We have sufficient equipment for you to borrow for the workshop, but if you already have a loom, please feel free to bring it with you. There will be plenty of tuition and support from Louise and Liz, who will also ply you with tea, coffee, sweet treats and a nourishing lunch to keep mind, body and spirit ticking over.
